Union and state Governments are fast increasing the use of land of pond, river, natural drainage channels and dams submergence area for construction purposes. Mining activities are also adding for water wastage and lowering of ground water table. This is greatly reducing the water availability in India. Second is the increasing wasteful use of surface and ground water in India for agriculture. The use of ground water where its level is decreasing, must be banned for agriculture. The union and state governments must make a law, just like for opium, that the high water consuming crops like rice, sugar cane, etc can be grown only after obtaining permit from government. The anarchy in India in water sector will cost the nation huge reduction in production in agriculture sector and total depletion of ground water where it is not getting replenished or being replenished at a rate causing fast depletion of ground water table. The Minsitry of water resources and Agriculture Ministry and law Ministry are responsible for anarchy in water sector in India.
