Chokkanhalli Ramesh, Retired Scientist (Hydrometeorology) from Central Water and Power Research Station, Pune, India
About
I joined the pemier research station CWPRS with masters in Physics. Then I completed my Engineering with AMIE(Civil), this was followed by masters in modeling and simulation. The thirst for knowledge in me landed me in IIT Bombay wherein I completed my PhD in Civil Engineering.
I worked in field data collection from watershed using various hydrometric instrumentation followed by data analysis. In addition I worked on applied research in hydrology and water resources wherein I adopted different hydrological and hydraulic models for water resources analysis of river basins. I developed computer codes (models) for flood estimation, irrigation return flow and flood forecasting.
I played key role in developing, installation and operation of flood forecasting model during Kumbhmela event of Godavari at Nashik during 2015.
This apart, I have experience in area drainage and safe grade level determinations for TPPs, application of statistics in hydrology, development of DSS for water management and flood estimations for river valley project. I have conducted hydrology and hydraulics for River Front Development studies for smart cities.
At CWPRS as team leader I was instrumental in preparing Road map for developing AWS testing and calibration laboratory, also I prepared concept document for CATH chamber facility for testing sensors of hydrometric instruments.
