About

Dr. Archana Saily Painuly had her M.Sc(1991), M.Phil(1992) and Ph.D(1997) from IIT Roorkee, India. In 2007 she obtained Master in Civic Engineering & Environmental (Hons) from University of Western Sydney, Australia. She has more than fifteen years of research and teaching experience in various capacities both in India and overseas. Her research covers broad spectrum of liquid-liquid extraction with interest from basic mechanism to industrial applications. She has developed cost effective methodology for recovery of hi-tech and strategic metals particularly Mo, W, V and Co from low grade ores, industrial wastes and spent catalysts.  Other area of her keen interest is environmental chemistry which includes fate and effects of pollutants in water, sediment & soil, bioavailability of heavy metals in water and sediments to predict toxicity apart from development of background levels of metals & nutrients in sediments and waste water management.

Dr. Painuly is recipient of SEEWRT(Sustainability in Ecological Engineering and Resources Technology) Research Award (2001) by University of Western Sydney, Sydney, NSW, Australia and AINSE Award (2004) by Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), Sydney, NSW, Australia for sediment dating of lake Burragorang. She was awarded University Medal for standing first class first in Master of Philosophy. She received Dr. B.C. Haldar Award from Indian Society of Analytical Scientist, India (1994). She held Senior Research Fellowship (1995-97) and Post Doctoral Fellowship (1997-2000) from Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, New Delhi. She has patented her work on recovery of Tungsten (International classification (C22B 34/36) from waste in 2006. Threemore patents have been filed by Dr. Painuly filed with C.S.I.R., New Delhi, India, on development of processes for the recovery of Molybdenum, Vanadium, and Cobalt from ores and industrial wastes. Dr. Painuly worked at University of Western Sydney, Australia and BBD University, India before joining SRM University.
