Generally and major cause of ground water arsenic contamination is due to oxidation of arseno-pyrite at any water depth . Some times , leaheting of pesticides , fertilizers and other industrial wastes causes ground water arsenic contamination which is higher at the starting water depth and contamination decreases with the increase of water depth . Please refer to my research paper on this issue by browsing " https://www.researchgate.net/project/Special-Issue-on-Arsenic' in which arsenic contamination at shallow depth is due to leacheting of industrial wastes etc
