Only it needs quantification of work needed with available technology. Indian scientists are capable enough to carryout such work. 3) The article covers issues related to quantity. I would like to add an issue of deteriorating condition of water bodies. Old kingdom of Maharaja Sayajeerao of Vadodara, had developed village tanks. It is common knowledge that such tanks were located considering ground slope for rainwater flow and accumulation. Few well intended schemes have resulted in undesired side effects. Now these village water supply to homes is through pipe lines and drainage water is left untreated and meets water body. These tanks has now limited use and naturally those are deteriorating. 4) All rules are in place but question is implementation. Is there a political will. Travel along Yamuna river at Delhi. 5) Am I sounding pessimistic? NO. We are reactive people. Please agree with me. This article is in response to the worsening situation. We need an epidemic to improve situation. Don't remember? SURAT.
